About
Amy Vidra is a Sacramento abstract artist who works in plaster, photographs and fibers, pairing "hard and soft, simple and complex" materials. Her work explores impermanence and identity, and the mixed messages people get from family, media, society and themselves. She works intuitively; her pieces are layered, imprinted, stitched or woven, usually in a raw, neutral palette. She works as AV Abstract Studio and is a resident artist at Verge Center for the Arts.
She earned a BFA in photography with a sculpture minor from the Cleveland Institute of Art and an MA in art therapy and counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe. She has had solo shows at Blue Line Arts, Elk Grove Fine Arts Center and The Art Studios on I Street, shows regularly at Axis Gallery and the Pence Gallery, takes commissions and teaches classes.
