About

Christine Kerr is an oil painter who uses color to build an emotional connection between viewers and the places she paints. She has lived in Los Angeles, Morro Bay, San Francisco, London and Sacramento, and tried photography, ceramics, watercolor and acrylic before settling on oil. She switches between iconic buildings, which need more precision, and landscapes, which are "more forgiving," and she favors dusk and dawn.

She paints the sky first, because the other colors have to answer to it, and changes colors from her reference photos to evoke the experience. Subjects include Half Dome, Mount Lassen, Crater Lake, Mt. Tam, Caffe Trieste, and Sacramento's Tower and Crest theaters. She sells originals and limited edition prints online, takes commissions, and opens her studio at The MACC in Rancho Cordova.
