About

Danielle Wogulis is a figurative painter born and raised in Northern California who lives and works in Sacramento. She works in painting, drawing, collage and printmaking, balancing femininity and aggression in her materials and subjects, and uses figurative and botanical imagery to explore the dreamlike in the everyday. Her recent work looks at the body as a site of emotional expression.

During the early pandemic she built a large body of collage from vintage anatomy illustrations, art-catalog scraps and field guides; those collages now serve as sketches for large oil and acrylic paintings exploring power, nature, the body and fantasy from a queer, whimsical perspective. She holds a BA in painting from UC Santa Barbara (2014), studied for a year at the University of Leeds, and was a member of Axis Gallery from 2021 to 2024, serving as vice president and then president. She takes commissions.
