Gioia Fonda

Gioia Fonda is an interdisciplinary artist who works mainly in two dimensions: painting, drawing, sewing and photography, with occasional forays into sculpture, performance and new media. Her work ranges from colorful non-objective pieces to projects that deal directly with the aftermath of the Great Recession, and her site also collects public art and ideas about art in general.

She holds a BFA from California College of the Arts and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York, and is a tenured professor of art at Sacramento City College. A studio resident at Verge Center for the Arts, she is also active in the Sacramento art community as a curator, juror, collaborator and arts advocate.
