Ingrid Tracy

Ingrid Tracy is a Sacramento visual artist and professional violinist. She paints in acrylic and makes works on paper, collage, artist books and sculpture, and she often works with thread, fabric and paper to see how an idea shifts from one material to the next. Her studio process is intuitive: she starts with a color, a mark, a material or a shape and follows where it goes.

Music and her love of Argentine tango feed her interest in rhythm, tension, balance and connection. "I have always been happiest when I am learning something new, experimenting, and making things," she writes. She sells originals through her online shop, mails a small collectible print each month through The Artist's Envelope, and writes a Studio Notes newsletter about new work and process.
