Michelle Andres

Michelle Andres is a contemporary oil painter, writer and poet. Her landscapes take their cue from land, light and stillness, built from layered paint and pared-down compositions that leave room for viewers to bring their own meaning. She welcomes imperfection as what makes a subject feel real, and wants her paintings to offer a calm pause from busy days.

She worked in corporate organizational change before going full-time as an artist in 2012, and since 2019 has focused on uplifting oil landscapes, influenced by painters such as Nicolas de Staël. Her work can be seen by appointment at her studio at ARTHOUSE on R in Sacramento and at galleries in California and Arizona.
