About
Natalie Head is a Sacramento artist whose practice starts in photography and branches into sculpture, fiber, paper and found objects. "My work begins with the things we leave behind," she writes. Through transformation, distortion and reconstruction, she looks at how images and objects pick up meaning over time, working in the space between the remembered and the imagined, the handmade and the artificial.
After several years of AI-based work, she has turned back to physical, handmade processes and to ideas and materials she set aside years ago. She has shown widely around Sacramento, including a solo show, Conjuring Dot, at Delta Workshop in 2014, group shows at WPM Gallery, Artspace 1616 and the Center for Contemporary Art, and The First 10 Years at Verge Center for the Arts in 2023, where her studio is located. She takes commissions.
