Chef Burma
Burmese kitchen at 16th and K serving tea leaf salad, mohinga, nan gyi thok, curries and Burmese milk tea.
About Chef Burma
Chef Burma opened in 2025 near the corner of 16th and K streets and is Sacramento's only Burmese restaurant. The menu covers the classics: tea leaf salad with fermented tea leaves, peanuts and fried garlic; mohinga, the lemongrass fish soup thickened with rice powder; and nan gyi thok, rice or egg noodles with coconut chicken curry and split peas. Flaky platha bread comes with curry for dipping, and Burmese hot or iced milk tea rounds out a meal.
Beyond the salads and soups there are Burmese curries with potatoes, chicken biryani, wok dishes with lamb, beef, shrimp or tofu, and a long list of vegetable plates. Many dishes are marked gluten-free or gluten-free available, and several are vegetarian. Order for pickup or delivery through the restaurant's site, or ask about catering.
