Cozy East Sac cafe at 56th and H since 1992, known for breakfast burritos, cactus omelets, pancakes, chile verde and fajitas.
Nopalitos Southwestern Cafe has been a neighborhood fixture at the corner of 56th and H streets since April 1992, when chefs Dave and Rose Hanke opened it. The name comes from the nopal cactus, which shows up across the menu, and the cafe's pancakes once made the cover of Sactown Magazine.
Breakfast runs from 6:30 AM until noon, with breakfast burritos filled with chorizo, machaca or chile colorado, scrambled egg plates with nopales, cactus and poblano omelets, buttermilk pancakes and French toast. From noon on, the kitchen turns to chile verde and carnitas plates, tamale bowls, tostadas, smothered burritos, fajitas and a southwest burger. Orders can be called in for pickup, and the cafe also handles catering and parties.
