School of Rock

School of Rock teaches guitar, drums, bass, keyboards and vocals by putting students in bands. Every week there is a private lesson and a group rehearsal, and the season ends with a live show at a real venue. Around Sacramento, student bands have played the Crest Theatre, Drake's The Barn, Silt Wine Co. and Milagro Centre.

Programs go by age: Rookies (6 to 7), Rock 101 (8 to 13), Performance (8 to 18), plus songwriting, recording and production for 12 and up, the audition-only House Band and AllStars, and an Adult Program. No experience is needed to start. Seasonal camps run through the year. The Land Park school on Broadway is the Sacramento location, with sister schools in Carmichael, Elk Grove, Orangevale (Folsom) and Roseville. Book a tour from the school's page.
