Aiko Shimada: Jazz at the Center

Vocalist Aiko Shimada mixes jazz standards, originals and reimagined covers into intimate, expressive sets, favoring sincere storytelling over showy technique.

Now based in Sacramento, she spent two decades in Seattle touring and recording five albums. Her 2001 album Blue Marble, released on John Zorn's Tzadik label, features guitarist Bill Frisell.
