About
Cathy Cederlind is a bead embroidery artist in Sacramento who calls her work "art to wear." Each piece starts with a focal object, such as a semiprecious stone, a raku, clay, porcelain or glass cabochon, or a vintage button, which she embellishes with semiprecious beads, crystals, shibori silk and glass beads on fine Italian leather or Ultrasuede. She also uses off-loom stitches such as peyote and herringbone for hoops and earrings.
She also works in paper and collage, focusing on embellished felted paper and felted Joomchi (kozo paper with wool, silk and embroidery), plus cyanotype, photo transfer and painted Tyvek collage. Her studio is at ARTHOUSE on R in Sacramento, and she takes commissions.
