Kandi Thompson

Kandi Thompson is a Sacramento-area watercolor painter who likes ordinary subjects and often paints them from unexpected angles. She leans on strong contrasts of light and shadow for drama and depth, and loves the way colors blend on the paper and palette. "When I am painting in watercolor, it is magical," she writes.

Born in Illinois, Thompson has lived mostly in California. She keeps developing through classes and workshops and by studying watercolorists from the U.S. and abroad, and her work has won awards at local, national and international levels. She also offers her artwork on ceramic tiles. For Sac Open Studios she shows at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center in Carmichael.
