The Shop Midtown is a family-run restaurant and bar on J Street that pairs classic American comfort food with vintage Americana decor. The space was previously Red Beret, a Vietnamese restaurant run by the co-owner's aunt, and reopened as a casual spot for a meal, an after-work drink or a late-night bite, with the kitchen open until closing.
The menu leans on smash burgers like the Hot Rod Smash with bacon, onion rings, jalapenos and hot honey, plus loaded fries (Spamborghini, Nashville Buffalo, chimichurri steak), wings in four sauces, steak sandwiches and nachos, with beer, wine and seltzer to drink. Mondays bring free karaoke from 7 to 10 PM, and Wednesdays a free Bingo Night at 6:30 PM.
