About
Karen Minasian-Hill is a Sacramento mosaic artist whose work draws on the natural world. She works in a traditional, representational style in stained glass, sometimes combined with grout, gold leaf or porcelain, at sizes from 3 by 3 inches up to 3 by 3 feet. Byzantine mosaics, classical still life and Italian frescoes are among her influences.
She studied mosaic techniques in Virginia, Arizona, California and Italy, and holds a theatre arts degree from Occidental College. She runs Collina Studios with marquetry artist Brian Curtis Hill, her collaborator in both art and home life, and the pair have shown and sold work around Sacramento and Northern California, including the Crocker Art Museum's Big Names Small Art auction, The MACC and Verge.
