Varya McMillan

Varya McMillan is an abstract impressionist painter based in Northern California whose work blends representation and abstraction across landscape, urban and figurative subjects, much of it drawn from imagination. She earned her MFA at the Art Academy of Sofia, Bulgaria, majoring in stage and costume design, then spent two formative years in Paris on a scholarship from the International City of Arts.

Music and poetry feed her paintings, and her site notes that "Texture, markmaking & color play a big role in the visual language of each painting." She has held solo and group shows in Paris, Vienna, Budapest, Luxembourg, Sofia, San Francisco, Sacramento, Sonoma and Los Altos, and sells original paintings through her site.
