Cajun and Creole soul food on Broadway: catfish, chicken and waffles, shrimp and garlic noodles, Sunday oxtails and a list of fruity cocktails.
About Creole Soul Restaurant & Bar
Creole Soul is a mom-and-pop kitchen and bar on Broadway, co-owned by Verlyne Smith, with chef James Baker cooking from his family's Cajun traditions. The food blends French and Southern influences, and the menu leans on soul food staples: fried catfish with two sides, pork chops, ribeye, party wings with fries, and chicken wings over waffles, including a peach cobbler waffle.
Sides include Cajun red beans and rice, collard greens and mac and cheese. Cajun grilled shrimp and grits is served Friday through Sunday from 11 AM to 2 PM, and oxtails and rice show up on Sundays. The bar pours house cocktails like the Broadway Mule and a hibiscus margarita. Reservations are not taken.
Flamingo House
