About
Caiti Chan makes abstract paintings by pouring and dripping paint and ink, then adding texture with salt, isopropyl alcohol, paint powder, pastel and other materials. Her large all-over compositions explore the tension between control and chance, and between the surface and a sense of atmospheric depth; some pieces are more than seven feet across.
She holds an MA and BA in Studio Art from CSU Sacramento. She has had solo shows at the CSUS Union Art Gallery, Robert Else Gallery and Raymond Witt Gallery, group shows at Axis Gallery and Root Division in San Francisco, and has been an artist in residence at Verge Center for the Arts since 2017, where she keeps her studio.
