Ianna Nova Frisby

Ianna Nova Frisby is a Sacramento artist who works across many mediums, with ceramics as her touchstone. She hand-builds, throws on the wheel, slip-casts, makes molds, and mixes her own glazes and firings, and she hunts thrift stores for "objects of curiosity" to fold into her sculptural narratives. Her work explores popular and personal themes and the link clay has to geology, archaeology and anthropology.

She keeps a studio at Verge Center for the Arts and teaches art at Sacramento City College, and she leads workshops at Verge. Her playful Popcraft line, including slip-cast porcelain ramen cups and Meet Trays, is sold through her Etsy shop. She holds a BFA from Humboldt State University and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
