Ruth Holton Hodson

Ruth Holton Hodson works mostly in pastel and watercolor, painting California places and flowers from Yosemite falls and Tahoe aspens to the Land Park lotus pond. "I love light and the challenge of capturing it," she writes. She credits Sacramento artists Susan Sarback and Kathy Lempke Waste as guides on her path, and names Sargent, Homer and Turner as inspirations.

Her work has appeared in the KVIE Art Auction and in Watercolor Artists of Sacramento Horizons (WASH) shows, where she received an Honorable Mention for Painting of the Year in 2021. Three of her pieces are in the Kaiser Permanente Northern California collection, and she has been a featured cover artist for Inside Sacramento. Originals, giclee prints and cards are available through her studio site.
