California State Railroad Museum
Old Sacramento's railroad museum: 21 restored locomotives and cars, open daily 10 to 5, plus seasonal excursion trains along the river.
About California State Railroad Museum
The California State Railroad Museum opened in 1976 and draws more than 500,000 visitors a year to the Old Sacramento waterfront. The main hall holds 21 restored locomotives and cars, including a Pullman-style sleeping car and a dining car set with railroad china, across more than 225,000 square feet of exhibits.
The museum is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. On weekends in season, excursion trains run along the Sacramento River, and the holiday train returns from mid-November through late December. It's next door to the Sacramento History Museum, where the Underground Tours start.
