Old Sacramento Underground Tours
One-hour guided walks beneath Old Sacramento's sidewalks, telling how the city jacked itself up above the floods. Adults $30, ages 6 to 17 $25.
About Old Sacramento Underground Tours
After repeated floods in the 1860s, Sacramento raised its downtown streets, and buildings were literally jacked up to the new level. The Old Sacramento Underground Tours take you into the hollow sidewalks, sloped alleys and spaces left behind, with a guide telling the story.
Tours run about an hour, seven days a week, rain or shine. They start at the Sacramento History Museum, 101 I St; arrive 10 to 15 minutes early and check in at the front desk. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for ages 6 to 17; kids 5 and under are free but need to be on the order. Museum members pay less, there's a $1.50 processing fee per order, and tickets are non-refundable.
