Life's Grind Coffee House

Life's Grind is an independent coffee house in Galt, run by co-owner Gurdeep Bains and his niece, Kjit Mahil. It opened as an It's A Grind franchise. Bains bought it, gave it a new name, logo and menu, and has turned it into a neighborhood regular's spot. A second location in Elk Grove is part of his expansion plans, and he has been learning to roast with the goal of opening a Life's Grind roastery.

The coffee menu covers everything from cold brew and white chocolate mochas to mushroom coffee and matcha, plus smoothies. The food is mostly breakfast: build-your-own breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, bagel sandwiches, avocado toast, power bowls and a hangover croissant sandwich. The pastry case has cinnamon rolls, scones and croissants. It opens early, and you can order ahead online for pickup or delivery.
