Chicha Peruvian Kitchen
Midtown Peruvian restaurant on 16th Street from chef Giancarlo Zapata, known for its ceviche bar, lomo saltado, anticuchos and aji de gallina.
About Chicha Peruvian Kitchen
Chicha Peruvian Kitchen is chef Giancarlo Zapata's Midtown restaurant, the second location after the original Chicha in Roseville. Zapata and Marleny Chávez took over the former Uncle Vito's Slice of NY space on 16th Street for it, and it has been serving there since 2024. The kitchen cooks regional Peruvian food with a California angle, and the late weekend hours (open until midnight Friday and Saturday) make it a dinner option before a night out in Midtown.
The menu opens with a ceviche bar: a classic fish ceviche with leche de tigre, Peruvian corn and sweet potato, a creamy rocoto mixed-seafood Máncora, an ahi tuna version, and a three-ceviche tasting. Starters include grilled beef heart anticuchos, yuca croquettes and empanadas, and the mains run from lomo saltado and ají de gallina to braised short rib seco, pachamanca chicken and a squid-ink seafood rice. Desserts include churros, coconut flan and lucuma ice cream, and tables can be booked on OpenTable.
