Shipwrecked Paradise Island
Pirate-themed Midtown tiki bar on 16th Street pouring a four-rum Mai Tai, punch bowls and a long rum list, with a seafood-leaning small-plates kitchen.
About Shipwrecked Paradise Island
Shipwrecked Paradise Island is the Sacramento sibling of the Shipwrecked Tiki Bar in Davis, opened in October 2024 by Nate and Melissa Yungvanitsait in the former University of Beer space at 16th and P. The room picks up the Davis bar's story of Captain Bad Luck Bob, this time run aground near a jungle island: a giant anaconda coils over the circular bar and open kitchen, with carved elephants, tigers and ruins around it. It is 21 and over, takes cards only, and books tables for parties up to 24, with a private area for larger groups.
The drink list leans on rum. The 1944 Mai Tai blends four rums, the Zombie Jet Pilot and Navy Grog run strong, and there are punch bowls for two to four, shooters, mocktails and a long shelf of sipping rums. The kitchen, open until 11 PM, sends out oysters on the half shell, salmon ceviche and sashimi, jerk shrimp and steak skewers, pork dumplings and tiki fries. Thursday is Mojito Night with $20 pitchers, and Sunday brings buy-one-get-one oysters.
