Anchor & Tree Coffee Roasting Co. (16th St)

Anchor & Tree Coffee Roasting Co. was started in December 2022 by Donovan Albert, a former barista and shop manager, under the motto "better coffee, better world." It roasts on an electric Bellwether machine, and its own lineup has leaned on Fairtrade and organic coffees named for trees from each growing region. This 16th Street shop, in a former yoga studio, was its first storefront.

The idea here is "community, not competition": alongside Anchor & Tree's roasts, the bar features coffee from other local roasters, with rotating guests and a bulk bean station stocked by more. Espresso and manual brews are made to order, there are pastries, and the roaster sits in plain view for workshops where guests pick a green coffee and a roast profile and watch the batch go.
