Mayahuel

Downtown Mexican restaurant and tequila museum on K Street, with Gabriel Romo murals, small-batch tequila and mezcal, and family-recipe cooking.

About Mayahuel

Mayahuel, also known as Tequila Museo Mayahuel, is Ernesto Delgado's Mexican restaurant and tequila museum at 12th and K downtown. The room is covered in murals by artist Gabriel Romo, the bar specializes in small-batch tequilas and mezcales, and the space doubles as a gallery and music stage.

The cooking starts from Delgado's mother's recipes, made with fresh local ingredients. The lunch and dinner menu includes molcajete salsa, sikil p'ak pumpkin seed dip from the Yucatan, mezcal-flambéed camarones enmezcalados, chicken tinga tostadas, requesón taquitos, a pozole salad and shrimp ceviche, with brunch, a vegan menu and happy hour as well. Reservations are on OpenTable, the Coa Room hosts private events of up to 60 seated, and private tequila tastings can be booked. It shares an owner with La Cosecha and Mesa Mercado.
