Tiferet by the Park
Sister-owned East Sac coffee house near McKinley Park, known for Ethiopian-inspired coffee drinks and specialty Ethiopian teas.
About Tiferet by the Park
Tiferet is run by sisters Sabrina and Makeda Berhane, who grew up in Modesto with a Jewish mother and a father of Ethiopian heritage. The name comes from the Hebrew word for glory and the point on the Kabbalah Tree of Life where strength and compassion balance. Their H Street coffee house, in a former ice cream shop a short walk from McKinley Park, opened in the mid-2010s and grew into a small family of Tiferet cafes around Sacramento.
The menu draws on the family's roots, with coffee recipes inspired by Ethiopian tradition that Sabrina developed, specialty Ethiopian teas and Ethiopian baskets in the decor. It is a small, neighborly shop that has marked anniversaries with a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
